Big Bird Mine / Wetland Delineation

Client: SRK Consulting
Location: Elko County, Nevada

SAGE conducted a wetland and waters of the U.S. delineation study for the proposed Big Bird Mine, a 1,700 acre property located 33 miles northwest of Elko, Nevada. After inspecting more than 2.6 square miles of terrain and dozens of miles of ephemeral drainages on the eastern flanks of the Independence Mountains, approximately 4 acres of wetlands, 1 acre of open water inside artificial impoundments, and 12,000 linear feet of stream channel were mapped within the project area. A delineation report was prepared, including maps, wetland descriptions, data sheets, and photographs documenting site conditions. This information will be used to guide planning and to initiate the permitting process for a barite mine to be developed within the project area.
